Highlights of a Gospel Story
by Yankee Arnold
In 1969, I preached some evangelistic meetings in Northern Minnesota in a little town of Dora Lake. Many trusted the Lord because of those meetings, but there were a few that stood out. Dan, Chan, and Rodney saw that Dennis and Ronnie Hines came to know the Lord. Ronnie (wearing the hat) had a grand-son, "Goozie" Hines that trusted the Lord as a child when he saw Danny Adams use the wallet illustration. I guess that makes him my grandson in the Lord.
Ronnie has seen to it that all his family has come to know the Lord. Ronnie and his wife, Shirley, returned this week from Arizona to undergo treatments for cancer. Please pray for him.
David's mighty men had to hone their skills before battle, just like fighting the lion and the bear before he stood before Goliath.
2Sa 23:8 These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.
2Sa 23:12 But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.
1Ch 11:22 Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done many acts; he slew two lionlike men of Moab: also he went down and slew a lion in a pit in a snowy day.
Even men today greatly desire to demonstrate their skills and abilities by vigorously challenging an equal opponent to compete with strict limitations.
"Goozie" is one of them. The first picture shows he is 3-0. This picture below he is 8-0.
Goozie attends the Grace Gospel Church
in Taconite, MN where Lance Edminster is Pastor. I just had the privilege of preaching there on May 25th thru 29th.
David had: The Tachmonite and Lance has the Taconite.
Col 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Col 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Gooz has just been notified that he has been invited to fight in the world's greatest fighting arena, the UFC June 28th. Of course, I would love for him to win, but I would like for him to honor the Lord whether he wins or loses. I would also request that he would have no sustainable injuries.
In talking with Lance today, I was glad to know that besides having prayer with him, he talked to him about honoring the Lord. Would you pray also? SHARE!
