Over the last 65 years, I have had the privilege of winning and training thousands of believers in Jesus Christ. This is how it was accomplished. Hope it helps you.
The Introduction and 13 Lectures will give you and your church the renewed love for the gospel with confidence and boldness to bring the lost under the sounds of the message. This introductory lecture challenges every Christian to make a foundational decision: to live for the sake of the Gospel and the salvation of lost souls rather than for self. Drawing from Mark 8:35, it presents the believer’s purpose as “losing” one’s life for Christ and the Gospel in order to truly save it, contrasting it with John 3:16’s promise to the lost. Using the analogy of a flagpole (with the Gospel as the flag and areas like Bible study, prayer, and family as supportive guy-wires), it stresses keeping soul-winning as the central purpose of life. It motivates believers with four compelling reasons to become soul winners: eternal rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ, the urgent need of the lost (who are blinded by Satan and headed for hell), the constraining love of Christ that makes us willing “love slaves,” and the clear command of the Great Commission. The lecture closes by reminding Christians that the Holy Spirit provides the power needed and urges them to win souls and train them to do the same, embracing a truly Gospel-driven life.
This Soul Winner’s Manual on the Gospel Driven Man is a clear, Scripture-saturated, grace-centered training resource that equips everyday believers to confidently share the Gospel, answer objections, follow up new converts, and live as effective ambassadors for Christ. Lecture 1
This lecture lays the foundational “Bad News” of God’s plan of salvation, explaining why every person
needs to be saved. It clearly presents four key doctrines: (1) Everyone is a sinner who falls short of God’s
perfect glory (Romans 3:23), (2) the penalty of sin is death and eternal separation from God (Romans 6:23),
(3) heaven is a perfect place where no sin can enter, and (4) no human works, religion, or self-effort can
save or help save a person—salvation is by grace through faith alone. The notes provide practical
presentation tips for soul winners, such as admitting personal sinfulness, keeping the conversation centered
on the Bible rather than personal opinions, gently addressing moral people with Scripture, and repeatedly
emphasizing “not of works” to counter the common deception of works-based salvation. The goal is to
help the unsaved person clearly understand their lost condition before moving to the Good News of the
Gospel.
Lecture 2
This lecture presents the “Good News” of God’s plan of salvation, focusing on the three remaining key
doctrines that complete the message. It explains Doctrine #5: Christ made a complete payment for all sin
and offers His righteousness in exchange (II Cor. 5:21, Isa. 53:6, I Peter 2:24, etc.), showing that Jesus fully
paid the debt we could never pay. Doctrine #6 teaches that all a person must do to be saved is believe that
Jesus is the Lord who paid for their sin and receive Him as Saviour by faith alone (John 3:16, Eph. 2:8-9,
John 1:12). Finally, Doctrine #7 emphasizes that a person can know they have eternal life the moment
they believe, because eternal life is eternal—not probationary or temporary (I John 5:13, John 6:47).
The notes provide clear presentation tips for soul winners, stressing the need to carefully explain these
truths using Scripture, address the common tendency toward works-based thinking, and assure new believers
of their immediate and permanent salvation.
Lecture 3
This lecture presents the vital doctrine of eternal security, declaring that it is not a separate teaching but an
essential part of salvation itself: “If you are not saved forever, you are not saved.” It begins with the core
question “What is a Saviour?” using a powerful drowning illustration to show that a true Saviour takes you
all the way to safety, not just partway. The notes provide numerous clear Scriptures (John 6:37-39,
John 10:28, Ephesians 1:13-14, John 5:24, Romans 8:38-39, and others) to remove doubts, emphasizing
that God keeps the believer by His power, the Holy Spirit indwells forever, and Christ will never cast out or
lose any who come to Him. Practical soul-winning guidance is included for addressing those who fear
losing salvation, showing that such doubts usually stem from a misunderstanding of grace versus works,
and urging soul winners to patiently return to the clear Gospel until the person rests fully in Christ’s
finished work.
Lecture 4
This lecture (Part 1) addresses chastening and rewards, making it clear that while eternal life is forever
secure for every believer, Christians cannot live as they please without consequences. It explains that upon
salvation we become God’s children with great privileges, but our heavenly Father also disciplines us out of
love (Proverbs 3:11-12, Hebrews 12:6). The notes cover God’s two main ways of dealing with His
children—blessings for obedience and chastening for rebellion—along with the natural results of sin
(Galatians 6:7), the importance of immediate confession (1 John 1:9), and the reality that sin can break
fellowship, joy, power, and testimony. It also introduces the Judgment Seat of Christ (1 Corinthians 3:11-15),
where believers’ works will be judged: good works bring reward, while worthless works result in loss of
reward though not loss of salvation. The teaching strongly motivates holy living and faithful service after
salvation.
Lectures 5 and 6
These combined lectures continue the teaching on chastening and rewards while providing essential
instructions for new Christians on how to grow and serve the Lord. Building on the truth that salvation is
secure, the material stresses the need for a disciplined life of faithfulness, warning that sin brings chastening
and a time-lapse reaping (Ecclesiastes 8:11, Galatians 6:7) while obedience leads to blessing and future
rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ. It motivates believers to aim high, serve for God’s approval rather
than men’s, and recognize that labor for the Lord is never in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58, 2 Corinthians 5:10).
The second half outlines four key practices for new believers: daily Bible study for growth (starting in John),
natural heartfelt prayer as talking to “Abba” Father, regular fellowship with other Christians in a Bible-
believing church, and immediately beginning to witness to others—emphasizing that anyone who knows
enough to be saved knows enough to tell someone else. This practical follow-up equips soul winners to help
new converts become established, fruitful, and reproducing Christians.
Lecture 7
This lecture (Part 1) focuses on the Messenger’s Testimony, stressing that a consistent Christian life is
essential for effective soul winning. It warns believers to “be careful to maintain good works” (Titus 3:8)
because Satan will use any inconsistency to ruin one’s testimony and harm the ministry. Key principles
include giving no offense in anything so the ministry is not blamed (II Cor. 6:3), abstaining from all
appearance of evil (I Thess. 5:22), and willingly limiting personal liberties for the sake of others (I Cor. 8:13,
Rom. 14:21). The notes emphasize voluntary self-discipline, using liberty to serve rather than indulge the
flesh, and following Paul’s example of becoming a servant to all that he might win some. A strong testimony
and bold witness must go hand-in-hand to glorify Christ and avoid becoming a stumbling block to the lost.
Lecture 8
This lecture (Part 2) continues the focus on the Messenger’s Testimony, portraying the soul winner as a
Christian soldier who must skillfully use his greatest weapon—the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God.
It stresses that the lost will never see salvation without the Gospel from Scripture (Psalm 119:130), that
God’s Word is quick, powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12), and that soul
winners must never stop using the Bible even when people claim not to believe it. The notes warn against
“chasing rabbits” or getting sidetracked into philosophical discussions or man’s wisdom (I Cor. 2:4-5,
II Cor. 11:3), urging simplicity in Christ and reliance on the power of the Gospel. Additional emphasis is
placed on possessing divine wisdom rather than worldly philosophy (Col. 2:8), adapting illustrations to the
listener’s background while never compromising doctrine, and maintaining a disciplined personal Bible
study habit through practical tips for effective, consistent time in the Word.
Lecture 9
This lecture clarifies the often-misunderstood relationship between faith and works by distinguishing
between salvation and Christian service. Using Romans 4 and James 2, it explains that Abraham was
justified by faith alone before God for salvation (receiving Christ’s righteousness as a free gift), yet justified
by works before men. James 2 addresses believers and their coming judgment
at the Judgment Seat of Christ—not for salvation, but for rewards. Faith without works is described as
“dead” (useless or barren), like a dead battery: it still exists but produces no profit, no rewards, and no
visible testimony to others. The notes powerfully motivate soul winners and new believers to couple their
faith with obedient works—serving the Lord, laying up treasures in heaven, and proving their faith visibly—
while warning that a life of faith without works results in loss of reward, chastening, and a wasted Christian
life, even though salvation remains secure.
Lecture 10
This lecture (Part 1) provides a clear, biblical explanation of repentance and its relationship to the Gospel.
It affirms that repentance is necessary for salvation—Paul preached “repentance toward God, and faith
toward our Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 20:21)—but carefully defines the key Greek words (metanoia and
metanoeo) as simply “to change one’s mind.” The notes distinguish this from the modern dictionary
meaning of sorrow for sin or turning from sin, which would add human works to faith and confuse the lost.
Repentance for salvation is not an additional condition but is automatically included in genuine belief:
a person changes their mind about their previous way of salvation (works, religion, or self-righteousness)
and trusts Christ alone. Practical soul-winning guidance helps presenters avoid common errors, using clear
Scriptures and illustrations so prospects understand they must shift their trust to the finished work of Christ.
Lecture 11
This lecture (Part 2) continues the vital teaching on repentance and the Gospel by showing that Eternal
Security is not a separate doctrine but is essential to the Gospel itself: “If you are not saved forever, you
are not saved at all.” It powerfully argues that anyone who does not believe in eternal security does not
fully understand or believe the Gospel of grace, because true salvation means knowing you are saved from
hell, going to heaven, and kept secure forever the moment you trust Christ alone. Using many clear
Scriptures (John 5:24, John 6:37, John 10:28, Ephesians 1:13-14, etc.), the notes explain that the Holy Spirit
indwells believers forever, all sins are paid for and forgiven, and Christ will never cast out or lose any who
come to Him. Soul winners are equipped to lovingly question and re-present the Gospel to anyone who
doubts their salvation, until they rest confidently in Christ’s finished work.
Lecture 12
This lecture (Part 1 of 2) thoroughly refutes the false doctrine of “Lordship Salvation,” which claims a
person must not only trust Christ as Savior but also make Him absolute Lord and Master of their life in
order to be saved. It clearly distinguishes between Christ as Savior (who He is and what He does for
salvation) and Christ as Lord (yielding control of one’s life for service after salvation). The notes emphasize
that mixing grace with human effort robs the Gospel of its power, using strong biblical support to show
that salvation is receiving Christ by faith alone (John 1:12), while lordship is a separate issue of service
and works that occurs only after one is saved. Special attention is given to correctly interpreting
Romans 10:9 in its Jewish context (acknowledging Jesus as God), warnings against adding works to the
Gospel, and the reality that carnal Christians exist—proving that a lack of immediate lordship does not
mean a person is unsaved. The teaching equips soul winners to present a pure grace message without
confusion.
Lecture 13
This lecture (Part 2 of 2) concludes the strong refutation of “Lordship Salvation” by showing that any
required change in a believer’s life after salvation is a matter of the Christian’s own choice, not an automatic
requirement for being saved. Using the biblical example of Lot—who was called “just” and “righteous” by
God despite his carnal life in Sodom—the notes emphasize that salvation and service must be kept
completely separate. It then lists eleven compelling reasons not to teach Lordship Salvation, including
that it contradicts Scripture, confuses unbelievers by mixing grace with works, cannot truly save, is cursed
by God (Galatians 1:6-9), robs preachers and believers of rewards, hinders the growth of the church, and
brings unnecessary persecution to those who stand for the pure Gospel of grace. The lecture closes with a
passionate call to proclaim the free gift of salvation clearly and faithfully for God’s glory.
