Yankee gives update on Betty Thanks and Praise to all

 Yankee gives update on Betty

When Betty had her severe stroke about a month ago, I was truly devastated as not only what to do for her, but how to do it. This was truly a new adventure for us both. After two different hospitals and two rehab centers, Betty came home to our motor-home on Saturday 15th.

When she was admitted, she could not talk, reason, stand, or walk even with help. She had no control of arms or legs. Thank the Lord for good doctors, nurses,  rehab workers, and a multitude of godly saints who continuously took my wife to the throne of grace. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Betty can reason, talk, feed herself, stand and walk with a little assistance. Dr. Wally Morillo gave us permission to extend our stay an extra couple of weeks at their RV Park here at the church. After a week or so, we will assess the wisdom of continuing our mission trip or returning to Tampa.

Here are some pictures that are the results of your prayers.

When she is ready. I tried it and it works.

Rehab did a wonderful job working with Betty.

HAPPY VALENTINE
To the
“TIME OF MY LIFE”
by
Ralph ‘Yankee” Arnold

You were the prettiest thing I had ever seen
I’d be your prince and you my queen

We ran away at the midnight hour
Your prince without armour, castle, or tower

Anderson, South Carolina here we come
Athens, Georgia where we started from

The justice of the peace, not the secretary of war
Our love for each other is what we did it for

Your dad drove all night looking for me
Just to park my soul in eternity

With compassion at last, and a Bible in his hand
He led me to Christ, and I became a new man

Growing to maturity seem to take so long
To gain discernment between right and wrong

When it seems as though my wisdom did falter
Your testimony has been like the rock of Gibraltar

No man could ask more, for his wife to be
Than what you have been since you married me

A pearl of great price that is pure and just
A virtuous woman whom her husband doth trust

Out of two billion women, God led me to you
I’d do it again, and believe you would too

Now there’s gray in our hair, and furrows on our face
But your beauty is enhanced by your dignity and grace

Through all these years, this statement is true
I could not have made it, had it not been for you

Well, it’s Valentine’s Day and love fills the air
I wrote you this poem, to show I still care

THE KING

WELL, IT WAS VALENTINE DAY!

Coming home from Rehab. When she entered the hospital, I did not know if she would ever talk or walk again. The Lord has allowed me to escape that sorrow at this time.

Do you think she was excited to get back? We had a party. It will be a while before Betty can walk on her own, so keep praying.

Christian Youth Ranch is still going after 57 years in Pharr, Texas.

Wally and I have been close friends since 1964 as students at Florida Bible College, and now serves as one of our board members for Florida Bible College of Tampa. Wally, who is also caring for his wife, Jane, says my preaching for him these last 4-5 weeks has given him a much-needed break. Jane had a stroke over a year ago and has had some difficult days.

How is Jane doing? "She's doing OK. I'm just living a day at a time trying to take care of Jane. I took a lot of her meds off cause she was having seizures. I figured out some of the meds are causing it. She’s been doing pretty good with no seizures. She’s taking her blood pressure and just some of the meds that I know won’t give her bad side affect. God is good. Can’t complain about it. And he’s giving me the strength that I need to do what I need to do." Wally.

Us two old men would appreciate your continual prayers for our wives. We know that the day is coming when we will become the proud possessors of new  bodies. My present strength is coming from Romans 8:25,  "But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it."

Present hope about God's future promises gives present strength and patience to wait for it. To lose HOPE is when monotony sits in, joy is gone, purpose fades, strength is lost and unfaithfulness results.

April, sitting next to me, is the daughter of Jane and Wally. Sandy, the red-head, is a close friend of Betty's for many years. She has made sure I had everything I needed.

Betty's Second Stroke more severe Please pray

                                            My letter about Betty’s Stroke

I am sitting in my motorhome across the street from Grace Community Church in Pharr, Texas where Wally Morillo is the pastor.

Betty was taken to the Rio Grande Hospital because of having another stroke where she could not talk, stand, or walk. At this point, she is completely bedridden. This has left her right side (leg and arm) without mobility.

My prayer request:
Repair the wiring in the brain. An electric fan cannot cool you from the heat if the other end is not plugged in the outlet.
Regain total use of speech, arm, and leg.
Reschedule our plans. Last week when Betty was in the Methodist Hospital in Conroe, Texas, she texted me and said, “My love, go and preach and show them what a wonderful husband I am married to. I am right where God wants me.”
Remember that some things in our lives will not be our call but will be the Lord’s. We want you to pray that we will keep trusting the Lord as he walks us through this stage of our life.
You may ask a question in the comment section of my Ralph Yankee Arnold FaceBook page. I will post any updates there, so, please do not call her number. As of this moment, no changes have been made in my preaching schedule. A lot depends on Betty’s progress.

Please feel free to share. Three years ago, (in Jan) I was in the VA hospital for 23 days where I could not stand or walk because of Covid. Two months later I was driving and preaching across America. I believe it was also due to the prayers from God's people who prayed and shared.

Many times, progress is slow with results from a stroke, so updates will be when there is a significant change. I have never faced a situation like this before, and I will have many decisions to make. So, if you don't mind, please include me in those prayers.

This was a present from me to my parents Ralph 'Yankee' Arnold at Christmas (Hand Casting)They left it here at the house because they weren't finish drying and had to be painted. but these hands mean so much to me right now I think they did a beautiful job of not moving for 10 solid minutes. showing their love for 65 years and with God's blessings many more to come.

The Sword, The Hulk, The Sendoff, and Betty's hospital update

The Sword, The Hulk, The Sendoff, and Betty's hospital update

The greatest things about remembering Dr. Hank Lindstrom, was that he was a soul-winner. This is in honor of Hank and another one of his stories. Share if you like.

Bro. Arnold,

Greetings to you and Mrs. Arnold! In your newsletter on Calvinism, you hit a home run! I would like to reprint it in the Sword of the Lord if you will give me an okay to do so. Dr. Shelton Smith (It came out in the Jan 3rd issue, page 8.)

I count it a great honor to have an article printed in the Sword of the Lord. I started attending the Sword Conferences back around 1962. I heard Dr. John R. Rice, Dr. Curtis Hutson, Dr. Lee Roberson, Tom Malone, Jack Hyles, and many more that set my soul on fire. It wasn't so much the clarity of the gospel from every one, but the motivation to do something great for the Lord. Now at 83, I still burn. I have been motivated and I am still motivated above my ability to perform. The Sword helps to supply the logs to keep the fire burning.

Readers would be upwards of 80,000-100,000 because of how many issues are going into prisons, churches and mission’s work across the globe. There is really no way of knowing how many lives are touched by our paper! Hallelujah!

WHAT A GREAT SEND-OFF
After preaching at Calvary Community Church of Tampa Jan. 5th, we were blessed to have 175-200 of the greatest people in the world give us their blessings beside our motor-home. We will be (Lord willing) going about 15,000 miles for 9 months. Pastor Jesse Martinez led the church in prayer for us. I preached for Pastor Dan Greer of Community Baptist Church in The Woodlands in Texas. Besides freezing temperatures and flood warnings we pressed on. Thanks for your prayers.

Friday, Betty became very unstable on her feet and was unable to stand, walk, or speak clearly. I called 911, and they were only a 1/2 mile away. She was taken to the Methodist Hospital where she was diagnosed with a stroke and pneumonia in her right lung. She has been put on stronger blood thinner medicine and taken to rehab this afternoon. She is responding very well but weak. Thank you in advance for your prayers.  We are desirous of her being out in time to head to Wally's down in the valley.

Jana Curtis, (who is my Colorado adopted daughter-I led her to the Lord 50 years ago), came to hear me preach and stayed to help with Betty.

Encouraging comments are always comforting to read. Betty reads everyone. Help her feel better.
